OWNED AND OPERATED
Blind valves, also known as line blind valves, 8 blind, spectacle blinds or blind flanges are safety components that completely restrict flow through a pipe. They prevent all material flow so that maintenance, construction, and / or other activities can safely occur downstream. They also provide a visual cue to show workers what position they are in.
They are commonly used in tandem with block and bleed valve assemblies to provide positive isolation from both the fluid and any potential gases/particulates associated with the system.
Other types including sliding blinds, ring spacers, and other valves which all work in different ways.
Through a means of actuation, the blind valve can be rotated so that the solid disc prevents further flow through the pipe, and the hollow disk protrudes from the valve to show that the valve is currently in the closed position.
