There are a number of ways to actuate a ball valve, the most common being manual, air operated or electrically operated. So, when Winnellie Valve and Process were asked to supply a 100mm, 316SS, full bore ball valve, the electrical actuator was an easy choice.
The valve selection had some careful considerations also. For example, RPTFE seals were selected with graphite body seals and gland packing as well as meeting API 607 fire safe standards.
Regarding the actuation, electrically operated was the brief so the selection was simple. Rotork IQ seies electrical actuators was the preferred brand by the customer for jet fuel applications.
The valve and actuator were assembled in our workshop and fully function tested prior to sending to site for installation.
